In 2001/2002 I transferred all of my cassette recordings and additional recordings to computer. I didn't do a fantastic job on it as I was learning as I did it, but after some effort I pitch-corrected the recordings to where they were "supposed" to be and applied noise reduction to make the best of the recordings.
I adjusted the albums, sometimes editing unwanted bits out, sometimes adjusting the track order. In one case, a rather unsuccessful track was removed. At other times, tracks were added: compilation contributions and contemporary recordings.
I then assembled the recordings onto 12 CD-Rs that were distributed among my family and friends. Many of these discs are now unplayable because I used those awful sticky labels that, to be fair, the CD-R manufacturers had advised us not to use.
In truth, the noise reduction reduced a little too much top end so what I've done here is to boost the treble to recover a little associated hiss. The recordings remain as good or as bad as they were when we made them.
